Abstract:
Sports plays a major role for many individuals to learn and experience the values such
as following a set of commonly accepted rules and respect each other. A common
challenge that every cricketing nation that faces is assessing and comparing
performances of multiple players in the domestic level and give them a chance to
perform in the International level. In order to select talented players, countries should
have standard domestic level leagues. Not all teams and certainly not all leagues are
of equal standard and identifying exactly to what extend they are different, is a
challenge that selectors face when inferring a player’s ability. This has various
implications for player recruitment and selection in domestic level and international
level as well.
SLC team once dominated more than 15 years starting from 1996, winning the World
Cup and the T-20 World Cup, but has since then consistently fallen on hard times.
Since cricket is one of the most popular sports in Sri Lanka it has a large number of
athletes in its pool. Therefore, these talents must be thoroughly evaluated and
identified before they are introduced to the higher levels.
So with the aim of the project, selectors and coaches can analyze and recognize the
good performing domestic level cricketers in Sri Lanka through the unique ranking
system and other features that the web solution has to keep in track with the
performances of each individual to improve their skills and the standard of the
national level cricket team in Sri Lanka.
The web solution was assessed and evaluated by industry specialists and few non specialists to recognize the validity furthermore, practicality of the exertion to bring
the most to the selectors and coaches to recognize and get the most talented players
and make the national team to come back to the winning ways and make Sri Lanka
proud again by winning major tournaments"
