Abstract:
Nowadays lots of people in Sri Lanka are facing challenges with trains tracking and
making reservations efficiently. Current systems might lack real-time updates, leading
to inconvenience and uncertainty for passengers. This project aims to develop a
mobile app for train tracking and reservation to enhance passenger's experience,
provide real-time updates on train schedules, arrivals, and departures, and simplify the
reservation process, allowing users to book tickets conveniently as well as get an idea
regarding where the reserved seats are in the trains compartment through the app.
For further investigation of the project, market research was conducted to understand
existing train tracking and reservation systems. This process involved identifying
common pain points and user expectations. As well as created wireframes and
prototypes based on user feedback to ensure an intuitive user interface and seamless
user experience. Implemented the mobile app using appropriate technologies and
frameworks. Integrated APIs for real-time train tracking and reservation
functionalities. As well as conducted thorough testing to ensure the app's
functionality, performance, and security. Addressed any bugs or issues identified
during testing launched the app on relevant platforms (Android) and marketed it to
target users.
Successfully developed a mobile app for train tracking and reservation with an
intuitive user interface and robust functionalities providing real-time updates on train
schedules, arrivals, and departures, enhancing commuter convenience, and reducing
uncertainty. The app addresses commuter issues with train schedules and reservations,
offering real-time updates and a simplified process. Continuous monitoring ensures
reliability and user satisfaction. Future enhancements may include additional features
or integration with other services, driven by demand and market trends. Overall, it
improves the commuter experience and railway efficiency
