Abstract:
"Human Resource allocation is considered as one of most crucial components of successful
Project Management. Therefore, maintaining proper resource allocation within the
organization is of key importance. Researches have evaluated that the most IT software
firms are struggling with maintaining proper resource allocation. The existence of improper
resource allocation within an organization could be detrimental for the longevity of the
firm. It can lead to firms experiencing a large number of project failures and project delays.
This dissertation aims to analyse current and past data related to resource allocation in the
IT industry, design, develop and evaluate and provide valuable insights which will allow
the organization to take remedial actions to manage their resource and reduce the number
of project failure or complications within the organization. Furthermore, it will concentrate
on the factors that affects IT software firm due improper resource allocation and will aid
the company to come up with a proper IT solution that will aid in tackling the pertaining
problem.
The main aim of the implementation is to identify the factors contributing to project failure
due to improper resource allocation, and to analyse, design, develop and a mean that would
contribute as resource allocator system to assist firms. The system will contain user access
control, with the features to track project and view/upload project related documents, track
time, view reports, allocate resources as per skills, view utilization, receive turnover
prediction notifications etc.. To support this research, a thorough background study was
conducted with the help of available resources and interviewing industrial professionals.
Additionally, a survey was conducted and distributed among employees in IT firms. The
data gathered with the research, interviews and survey laid in foundation in which the
requirement was built.
