Abstract:
"The ""B-Track"" system was developed to address the inefficiencies in Sri Lanka’s
public bus transport system by utilizing real-time tracking technology to improve the
accuracy of bus schedules and reduce commuter wait times. Employing a user-
centered design approach, the project integrated GPS technology within a React Native
mobile application framework to ensure broad accessibility and reliable service
updates. Methodologically, the project involved initial requirement gathering through
direct surveys and interviews, system design, implementation, and iterative testing
stages, including functional and user acceptance testing. Results from the testing phase
indicated a substantial improvement in user satisfaction, with a significant decrease in
average waiting times and enhanced predictability of bus arrivals. The study concludes
that ""B-Track"" effectively enhances the public transport system's efficiency,
recommending further expansion and continuous updates to the system’s database to
cover more routes and incorporate additional user feedback mechanisms. Future
research should also explore scalability and integration with other forms of public
transportation."
