Abstract:
"The Fiber Network project operated by a construction company in Sri Lanka, in
collaboration with Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT), faces significant challenges due to
manual operations, lack of automation, data backup systems, and standardized
procedures. Operations such as job assignments, progress monitoring, material
handling, and quality checks rely on inefficient methods like WhatsApp chats and
spreadsheets, impacting employee evaluations and overall project performance. These
issues highlight the need for a comprehensive solution to streamline processes and
enhance transparency.
The purpose of this project is to address the identified problems by designing and
implementing a web application managed by project coordinators. The objective of this
is to build a system which shows the real-time data visualizations and updates on the
project progress and the employee performances. Also, a mobile version with a
dashboard is developed so that everyone will have access to the necessary data. These
solutions, once implemented, will help raise the accuracy, efficiency, and employees’
motivation through standardized evaluation routines.
These objectives can be accomplished using a pilot study that will include employees
and telecommunications department heads. A survey was made to gather information
on the present issues and types of possible solutions. The study findings made the web
application and the mobile dashboard design and development.
The proposed solution will be a revolution in employee evaluation as it will be replacing
the manual processes with automated systems for better decision making and allocation
of resources. The application will allow for the smooth coordination of project teams,
contractors, and management that ultimately improve productivity and responsibility.
The mobile dashboard will give a stakeholder the opportunity to see the metrics of the
project in real time and make the decisions based on this information and solve the
problems proactively.
As a result, this project tries to carry out the transformation of the Fiber Network project
by using the most modern technologies and standardized procedures. With web and
mobile application technology.
