Abstract:
"The escalating use of automobiles for transportation in our increasingly developed world has led to a notable rise in automobile accidents and breakdowns, posing a significant contemporary challenge. In Sri Lanka, road accidents and breakdowns contribute significantly to national traffic congestion and safety issues. In 2022, there were 2,395 fatal vehicle accidents, 6,231 non-fatal accidents with critical injuries to drivers, and 5,118 non-fatal accidents resulting in damage to vehicles and public property.
Motor Guardian plans to make future connections with insurance and other authorities to help demonstrate a comprehensive strategy for improving road safety and helping vehicle owners in need. The main goal of this project Motor Guardian is to develop a mobile application what will help vehicle owners in their daily travels, thereby addressing the difficulties they encounter in incidents such as accidents and/or breakdowns. Motor Guardian desires to offer features such as the recommendation of nearby available and operating service stations based on the vehicle owner’s location, a knowledge and solution provider like AI chatbot support, In-app payment gateway method as well as a direct mode of communication via the In-app chat feature. Various tools and technologies are used such as MS Office, MS project, Figma, SQL and PHP are used throughout the project’s Lifecyle to guarantee efficient planning, development and execution.
Both expert and non-expert stakeholders have evaluated the system, providing positive feedback. Additionally, this thesis will conclude by presenting future avenues of work and recommendations for the proposed solution.
