Abstract:
"With the significant challenges that Sri Lankan athletes face in terms of sports injury rehabilitation and sports strapping, the frequency of sports injuries, which affect everyone from an elite athlete to a person playing sport as a hobby. The importance of effective rehabilitation exercises and strapping techniques is very important to an athlete. A major obstacle is the lack of access to specialized physiotherapy services and knowledge in physiotherapy, plus the financial burdens in treatment, which are combined by a general lack of awareness about proper rehabilitation practices by athletes and many physiotherapists. Moreover, its highlighted there is a lack of proper training among physiotherapists and coaches in sports strapping techniques, which can lead to worsen athletes' conditions. The project “AthleteCare” aims to address these issues, by providing athletes with accessible, reliable guidance through a digital platform, allowing them to manage their injury rehabilitation and strapping effectively and independently.
The project's goal is to create a mobile application called ""AthleteCare"" that will provide step-by-step instructions for sports injury rehabilitation exercises and strapping techniques, facilitating athletes by providing dependable, accessible support and reducing their dependency on physical clinics. Moreover, the project's methodology included in- depth literature reviews, surveys, and interviews which were carried out with athletes and physiotherapists, to gain knowledge of the challenges they faced. This research aided in the development of an application that addresses the needs and concerns of its end users who are injured athletes. The main findings revealed that ""AthleteCare"" significantly fills a gap in the current market by combining comprehensive rehabilitation guidelines with injury strapping techniques incorporating interactive tools like videos, progress tracking and an attractive user interface.
Overall, the project “AthleteCare” achieves its goals by combining technology with user-friendly interfaces, leaving a significant impact on the sports rehabilitation and sports strapping industry. It also shows the way for future research and development, integrating more advanced cutting – edge technologies in future, incorporating machine learning to predict injuries and optimize rehabilitation protocols. The project stands out as a pioneering solution in an industry that is increasingly recognizing the value of digital health solutions."
