Abstract:
"Sri Lanka is an Export Oriented Country and revenue of the exports directly affects to
the economy of the country. In order to complete a good quality export, logistics
process should be perfect for the relevant export ; That means Logistics Performance
Index should be high. But currently, overall LPI of Sri Lanka is low. So that main
objective of the project is to analyse the existing logistics process, issues / weaknesses
in it and to design , develop and evaluate an IT solution which would overcome the
issues which are faced by the stakeholders in an export.
Under the Literature review section, background of the logistics process was critically
analysed through many factors ; what is export and logistics, importance /
effectiveness of the logistics, Logistics performance and current process in Sri Lanka
etc. Once the key stakeholders of the logistics process were identified, interviews
were conducted with those stakeholders to confirm the problem domain , analyse
current logistics process and collect requirements. An industry survey was shared with
them and more stakeholders as well.
Based on the context & background along with the gathered requirements, an IT
solution called ""Hub Logistics platform"" was designed and developed under software
development methodologies and project management approaches to overcome the
issues in existing process.
When the solution development was completed, it was evaluated by the selected
group of industry evaluators and got the necessary feedback and suggestions for
future developments.
