This report contains detail analysis of the problems faced by independent filmmakers in Sri Lanka. There many independent filmmakers and film students who are finding it hard to initiate their projects. There are various reasons for why the film industry in Sri Lanka is not very sound compared to other countries like India or The States, The reason being that there is lesser market compared to the other markets out there. Considering the country‟s situation, it has made it challenging for Independent Filmmakers and Film School students to make films due to the discouragement. Therefore independent filmmakers and film students are not able to fund their projects which are the core of initiating a film. IndieFund as a crowd funding platform will solve he issue. The core idea is to allow the community who are the general public to fund a film of their interest. This report covers the problem domain, literature review of the history of films and Independent Films, the importance of films in the society and its impact, the stages of making a film, stakeholders involved in the process of the filmmaking process, introduction of what crowdfunding is and its benefit to the films. Based on the study, a survey was carried out in order to validate the problem and scope down the project. The requirements were then finalized, and the designing of the solution and implementation was done. Once the Solution was implemented it was sent out for evaluation. Moreover this project followed the software development and project management approaches and methodologies to maintain the timeline to assure the report was completed on time. This solution is evaluated by the industrial expert and provided feedbacks for the future implementation of the solution. |
