There are many types of sign languages in the world such as Sri Lankan Sign Language, American Sign Language, and British Sign Language. These different types of sign language differ for country to country. The same sign will not represent the same meaning in all the sign languages and they can represent a single character or a word by the sign. In this project the author is going to address on the Sri Lankan Sign Language which represent words.
This research aims in detecting the Sri Lankan Sign Language which represent words and then forming a Tamil sentence out of the words that have been detected from the input source. Author is focusing on the signs which represent words because the signer can speak a sentence easily with words rather than by finger spelling it. Doing this research will make the signers at ease to express their thoughts to the non-signers where everyone can understand what is being communicated with each other. This will eventually reduce the social gap between the people who understand sign language and the people who does not understand the language will get reduced as well. |
