Predict Nutritional Information from Food Images (Nutripredictor)

Abstract

Obesity is an ever-growing problem. To combat obesity and to live a healthy life, people must find a way to lose weight. The solution proposed here is to develop an Android application that will better educate obese individuals about the nutritional information of food items, aiding them to make the best food choices. This Android application will use an image of a food item as the input and output the nutritional information of the food item to the end user. This is a 2-step process. First it must identify the food item. Then it must identify the portion size of the food item. This project is focused on solving these 2 problems.
