dc.description.abstract "Conventional electoral systems have many of the problems of security, transparency, and accessibility. Though promising, none of the existing blockchain implementations of solution using Proof of Work or Proof of Stake consensus algorithm are scalable and are energy inefficient making them impractical for large elections. In this thesis, a blockchain based e-voting system is proposed to solve this problem in which the Proof of Authority (PoA) mechanism for digital consensus is applied. Though such a system is secure and provides voter privacy, it is also able to achieve scalability and energy efficiency. The PoA mechanism allows the system to achieve voting transaction validation high throughputs (1000+ transactions per second) with extremely low energy consumption and without sacrificing decentralization thanks to dynamic validator rotation mechanism." en_US
