dc.description.abstract "The Sri Lankan fishing industry is crucial for the economy and the livelihoods of many families, yet it faces significant challenges related to outdated practices in record keeping, market access, and community networking. The ""FishNetLK"" project seeks to empower the fishing community by addressing these inefficiencies through a comprehensive, user-friendly platform. The initiative identifies that reliance on traditional systems has led to information silos and a lack of transparency. To tackle these issues, the FishNetLK project was developed after conducting interviews and surveys with fishermen and government officials to understand their challenges. This research helped prioritize the functional and non-functional requirements for the platform. The resulting prototype features several key components: a digital logbook for recording catches, a marketplace for trading fishing-related products, a community platform for sharing experiences and advice, and educational resources focused on sustainable fishing practices. Overall, FishNetLK has the potential to enhance the quality of life for Sri Lankan fishermen, improve the efficiency of the fishing industry, and promote long-term sustainability." en_US
