dc.description.abstract "Acne vulgaris, commonly referred to as acne, is a prevalent chronic dermatological disease that affects countless individuals worldwide, primarily adolescents and young adults. It is the eighth most prevalent disease worldwide, affecting approximately 9.4% of the global population. In Sri Lanka, the prevalence of acne is notably high, with reports indicating rates ranging from 43% to 78% among adolescents. In Sri Lanka, the prevalence of acne is notably high, with reports indicating rates ranging from 43% to 78% among adolescents. Despite its prevalence, many individuals face significant challenges in effective acne management, primarily due to the self-diagnosis practices prevalent among its population. Misdiagnosis and the subsequent misuse of over-the-counter treatments often lead to complications, thereby exacerbating the condition without proper medical guidance. DermaLens emerges as a pioneering solution designed to address these critical issues within the Sri Lankan context. This innovative web-based application leverages advanced image processing technologies and machine learning algorithms to facilitate accurate self-diagnosis of acne. By integrating medical expertise and state-of-the-art technological tools, DermaLens offers a user-friendly platform that not only diagnoses but also provides customized mitigation plans and product recommendations vetted by dermatologists.
