EasyInsight - A Financial Analysis Platform For Small Medium Enterprises

Abstract

"This thesis discusses the significant obstacles that Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Sri Lanka must overcome. SMEs play a vital role in the economy of Sri Lanka by generating employment and stimulating growth, but because of their lack of resources and experience, they have considerable difficulties managing their finances. The main goal of the project is to create ""EasyInsight,"" a financial management tool that will assist these businesses by offering straightforward, useful insights into their financial operations without requiring a deep understanding of finance. This project's methodology took a multifaceted approach, beginning with a thorough literature review to comprehend the state of FP&A tools currently in use and the particular difficulties faced by SMEs in Sri Lanka. After that, in-depth information about the unique requirements and preferences of SME owners was gathered through primary research, which included surveys and interviews with them. In light of these discoveries, an Agile-guided iterative software development process was used to guarantee adaptability and user feedback responsiveness. With an emphasis on a clear and user-friendly user interface, real-time data processing, and interactive features, the application was developed utilizing contemporary technologies such as Python with FastAPI for the backend and Angular for the frontend. Potential end users tested ""EasyInsight"" to make sure its features satisfied their needs. The main findings from this phase demonstrated a positive response, emphasizing how the tool's ease of use and capacity to reduce complex financial data into actionable insights were viewed as major advancements over pre-existing tools. Features like the customizable dashboard for tracking important financial metrics and the interactive chatbot for querying financial data were especially well-liked by users. The project's conclusions confirm that ""EasyInsight"" fills a market gap by offering an FP&A tool that is in line with the requirements and operational capabilities of Sri Lankan SMEs."
