Child malnutrition & poverty monitoring system - ‘’MALNUTRITION TRACKER’’

Abstract

"Many countries are facing serious issues with child malnutrition and poverty. Poverty, which is prevalent in Sri Lanka, exacerbates the major issue of malnutrition. Currently, various paper-based methods are being used by community health workers of the Sri Lankan government to monitor, track, and manage child malnutrition. A paper-based system is used to collect data through various techniques such as household surveys, medical facility records, or community-based screening initiatives. After being collected on paper forms, the data is manually input into a database or spreadsheet when ready for analysis. This method can be time-consuming and error-prone due to the possibility of data loss or incorrect recording during the manual data input procedure. To analyze and identify current problems with the manual paper-based system used by government community health workers to monitor child malnutrition and poverty in the community is the goal of this research. In addition, a web application can be created to help health workers monitor child malnutrition and poverty in low-income urban and rural communities. The application would provide simple instructions to assist them in measuring, treating, or referring children attending the sessions. The application can be designed, developed, tested, and evaluated. Managing the treatment process of malnourished children, including drug dosage and supplement use instructions, RUTF administration, multiple test results, and supplement inventory management."
