dc.description.abstract Since the discovery of flight in 1903 by Wright brothers field of aviation has come a long way within the decade passed transferring from wooden made lighter than air airplanes to state of the art modern day jet carriers. Within the process the role played by the Pilot who man’s the aircraft have widely changed as the aircraft they handled became more and more complicated. Therefore, the need to train the next generation pilots to successfully conquer all the hardships they encounter in the modern marvel of flying from the first day they enrol to become pilots are a necessity. In this fast-growing field compared to the global advancements with technology, Sri Lanka is comparatively behind the improvements in civil aviation sector. Especially in producing the next generation of pilots the process prevailing in the country currently consumes more time and money which leads to the frustration of students and eventually leaving abroad to fulfil their dreams. The aim of the project is to thoroughly analyse and address the root causes of these issues in order to make the training process of student pilots more efficient that would benefit all the stakeholders involved. Several interviews and other research methods were used for understanding the issues faced by student pilots, instructors, flying school and Civil Aviation representatives. The results suggested the necessity to digitize the prevailing process for easier access, clarity and accurate tracking of the processes involved in student pilot training. The need of a centralized system amalgamating Student, Instructor, Flying school admin and Civil aviation Authority to smoothen the student pilot training process was discovered during requirement gathering phase of the project. Hence, constant input was gained from the stakeholders involved to produce a worthwhile solution for the problem discovered. The developed solution includes a web and mobile based system that accurately manages the components involved in the said process. The developed solution was then evaluated through domain experts, technological experts to make sure the built system caters the aimed purpose. en_US
