<description>“COVID TRACE” A Covid tracing mobile application
Ikhlas, M
Corona has been a great life changer for everyone in this world bringing out a world we &#13;
have never seen before. The affected rate of Corona is numerous, every country in the &#13;
world has been affected by corona. Sri Lanka has also had ups and downs with this &#13;
pandemic, being a least affected country where the figures are rising up day by day. &#13;
This project is targeted in developing a mobile application which can track and identify &#13;
Covid carriers in Sri Lanka. CovidTrace has several features the most prominent being &#13;
location tracking which is very important in reducing the numbers. Also Sri Lanka’s &#13;
lack of systems and applications can also be said as a reason for the high figures.&#13;
After observing and listening to the views and ideas from industry experts and general &#13;
public, CovidTrace’s requirements was drawn and the features were finalized making &#13;
it the best catering application for this problem. The location tracking feature and the &#13;
portal system for the higher officials are the game changers for this application, making &#13;
it a fully fledge player. Along with the feature of having a in built symptom checker to &#13;
monitor the conditions of the user’s of the application. &#13;
The solution was evaluated by many industry experts and non experts to identify the &#13;
feasibility of the application, in order to bring the most to the users of this application &#13;
and help bridge the gap in the lack of systems and also in the other hand to reduce the &#13;
numbers of cases and make Sri Lanka a Covid Free country.

Small Medium Enterprises (SME) has been recognized as the backbone of the Sri &#13;
Lankan economy as it accounts for more than 75% of the total number of enterprises,&#13;
which provides 45% of the employment and accounts for 52% of total Gross Domestic &#13;
Production (GDP) for Sri Lanka. Even though these Small and Medium Enterprises are &#13;
essential to the economy more than 85% of SMEs face survival challenges and 75% of &#13;
SMEs do not succeed and fail within the five years of startup. Liquidation concerns, &#13;
Higher competition from other businesses, absence of technology, and Lack of business &#13;
skills/knowledge are the major factors for the failures. &#13;
The current business era has forced organizations to depend on Suppliers and reduce &#13;
disruption to the key business operations and have appropriate suppliers to supply &#13;
materials/ products. Companies are concentrating more on their core competencies and &#13;
relying on suppliers to outsource. Even though Outsourcing is a highly spoken topic, &#13;
the attention towards Indirect Material outsourcing is comparatively low. Maverick &#13;
spending, no appropriate approval workflows, lengthy discussions for negotiation are &#13;
some of the general issues that are evolved along with the domain. With the rapid &#13;
development of companies, the usage of Indirect material has expanded and &#13;
organizations usually spend 40% to 60% of the total revenue.&#13;
Taking two main groups involved in the process of purchasing and supplying products &#13;
into consideration, the research objective of this dissertation is to understand and &#13;
contribute to the existing process gaps and implement a centralized system that would &#13;
connect and benefit both Suppliers and Corporate clients in an effective structure.&#13;
To make a platform for the Small and Medium Enterprises to supply large scale &#13;
organizations, and from a cooperates perspective to have an effective workflow in &#13;
Indirect purchasing's “eProcure.Lk” has been introduced; eProcure.Lk is a Business-to Business eProcurement and Indirect Material product outsourcing software platform

Consumer Protection Violation &amp; Unfair Trade Practices has significant impact on the economic &#13;
growth of the country. Competition and Consumer Rights protection laws are regulated with &#13;
industrial policies considered as instruments of achieving economic growth and sustainable &#13;
development. Along with continuous market diversion to digital platforms and emergence of new &#13;
types of complaints to the retail product and service markets, consumer rights should be protected &#13;
adapting and establishing new digital solutions. &#13;
Consumers need to secure their rights and have easy access to remediation channels for effective &#13;
trade dispute resolution and redress in context of digital marketplace. While many developing &#13;
nations travel ahead in protecting data from tech giants and multi-national companies, Sri Lanka yet &#13;
striving to figure out the traditional market malpractices and regulate the businesses to provide &#13;
quality products and services. The comparison also to be seen in a broader view where Consumer &#13;
Affairs Authority established by Parliament Act of 2003 serve in terms traditional way of regulating &#13;
the businesses and has not adopted to the latest trends in digital marketplaces. &#13;
This research proposes a solution to address these concerns and aims to integrate the available &#13;
technologies and telecommunication means as smartphones and digital devices are mingled with &#13;
daily routine. Thus, considering the requirements identified a web application – “Whistle” has been &#13;
developed capable of lodging the complaints from mobile or PC. Whistle also facilitates consumers &#13;
to lodge the complaint from business premises by detecting the unique identification. The solution &#13;
was evaluated by technology experts and end users.

<title>‘I – Sense’ AN IOT BASED MOBILE APPLICATION TO DETECT EXPIRED VEHICLE REVENUE LICENSES IN SRI LANKA</title>
<link>http://dlib.iit.ac.lk/xmlui/handle/123456789/758</link>
<description>‘I – Sense’ AN IOT BASED MOBILE APPLICATION TO DETECT EXPIRED VEHICLE REVENUE LICENSES IN SRI LANKA
Welihinda, P. M
Sustainable development of a country is dependent upon effective management of its &#13;
sources of revenue. In Sri Lanka, income from vehicles by means of Vehicle Revenue &#13;
Licenses play a key role in annual income generation of the country. In addition, law &#13;
enforcement on expired Revenue Licenses generates a secondary income via a process of &#13;
assigning fines to offenders. &#13;
Problem identified in the domain is the presence of different digital and manual systems to &#13;
handle separate components of this process, mostly disintegrated form each other. &#13;
Therefore, currently a gap can be identified between different government sectors involved &#13;
in the process of handling Vehicle Revenue management. Thereby, a lack of coordination, &#13;
and improper centralized management of the process has rendered this process to have &#13;
certain loopholes, which are identified through this project. &#13;
As the background research, this project focuses on analyzing various issues in the current &#13;
system at place for different stakeholders, including local authorities and Vehicle owners &#13;
as well. Interviews, questionnaires and referencing existing acts and regulations were sued &#13;
to gather requirements of different stakeholders involved. Thereby, identified aim is to &#13;
provide a technological solution to centralize the Vehicle Revenue License process. To &#13;
enhance the effectiveness of Vehicle Revenue License renewal process for Vehicle owners. &#13;
To enhance the effectiveness of law enforcement against offenders who have failed to &#13;
adhere to Revenue License regulations in Sri Lanka. &#13;
This project is to bridge these gaps between different parties involved in the Revenue &#13;
Licensing process and increase the efficiency of the process for both drivers and&#13;
government institutions through I-Sense, IOT based device combined with an application &#13;
platform. Through the different evaluations and results obtained for the outcome of the &#13;
project, it is evident that this solution would be effective in making the current Vehicle &#13;
License renewal process more fruitful and convenient for all the involved parties.
