<title>Vehicle Workshop Scheduling Management System</title>
<link>http://dlib.iit.ac.lk/xmlui/handle/123456789/1124</link>
<description>Vehicle Workshop Scheduling Management System
Mascranghe, Antony Brayon
"The automotive industry in Sri Lanka is shifting slowly toward a service-oriented model with &#13;
new entrants concentrating extensively on customer experience and consumer data. Associated &#13;
Motorways Private (LTD) is one of the major giants in Automotive Sri Lanka which offers a &#13;
reliable, modern, customer solutions. However, the service sector doesn’t operate efficiently in &#13;
terms of system point of view. There are minor loopholes that may impact the brand value of the &#13;
company.&#13;
The automobile service appointment system is very inefficient. The current online appointment &#13;
is not working properly. The customer must either visit the workshop or call the workshop to &#13;
make an appointment. If the customer discovers the part replacement requirement that he/she &#13;
will visit or call the parts division to find out if the parts are available, often the parts may not be &#13;
in the current stock so that the customer will be disappointed and purchase from competitors. &#13;
During services, there is a challenge in monitoring the on-going level of progress, because the &#13;
customer has to contact the service person to determine the level of completion. In addition, the &#13;
IN and OUT time of the service person is not measured efficiently, as this is a necessary &#13;
requirement. Therefore, the total time taken for a specific job is not accurate.&#13;
In delivering an effective IT solution for the vehicle repair process, it was analyzed through the &#13;
aid of literature, interviews, and questionnaires, Web application would be ideal for this project &#13;
and hence the Prototype approach method has been chosen although it will be built up further &#13;
into a fully functional solution. The implemented version of the 'Vehicle Workshop Scheduling &#13;
Management System' was reviewed by expert and non-expert users, while further &#13;
recommendations were rendered to improve the solution"

<title>Lifeline - Donor Management and Blood Inventry system for NBTS - Sri Lanka</title>
<link>http://dlib.iit.ac.lk/xmlui/handle/123456789/1123</link>
<description>Lifeline - Donor Management and Blood Inventry system for NBTS - Sri Lanka
Pushparajah, Vaishnavi
"Life is a precious element from all the belongings we have. Blood is an asset for survival from &#13;
different circumstances. Therefore, donation of blood is an essential criterion for the human beings &#13;
to save the lives of their beings. &#13;
The National Blood Transfusion Service of Sri Lanka is the only authorized institute that &#13;
responsible for the collection, processing, storage and distribution of whole blood and blood &#13;
products in a manner that ensures all blood-related demands are met. In addition to this primary &#13;
goal, also concerned with the minimization of wastages through outdates and spoilage and &#13;
reduction of shortages as much as possible. &#13;
The proposed system intends to computerize the donor management and blood inventory system &#13;
in the blood banks in order to improve efficiency and effectiveness of keeping records and meeting &#13;
the goals of the National Blood Transfusion. &#13;
In this report background to the problem was clearly demonstrated with the aid of literatures and &#13;
various researches. Further scope of the project was narrow downed in order to overcome the above &#13;
problems by managing the units of blood needed by hospital per day and number of blood units &#13;
need to collect per day in order to balance the demand and supply by checking with the available &#13;
blood units through the use of effective inventory and donor management module proposed in this &#13;
system. &#13;
Further project requirements were collected using interviews, industrial survey and observation, &#13;
and collected requirements were designed in order to address the stated problems considering &#13;
project management and Software development methodologies following by the requirement &#13;
modelling diagrams. Prototype was developed and tested according to the test plan, further &#13;
evaluated by the IT experts as well as by the user. Feedback received from the evaluators were &#13;
recorded and will be incorporated in future enhancements.

<title>Automated Ambulance Dispatch System " Emergency Stop"</title>
<link>http://dlib.iit.ac.lk/xmlui/handle/123456789/1122</link>
<description>Automated Ambulance Dispatch System " Emergency Stop"
Fernando, Heshmanthi
"Emergencies like accidents demand immediate medical attention for patients to be &#13;
transported from the location of the incident to the nearest hospital for treatment. In &#13;
situations such as this, emergency dispatch systems are a critical aspect in saving lives &#13;
where the importance of transporting the patient is related to the arrival of an ambulance. &#13;
A delay of any category can not only worsen a patient’s condition but may even lead to &#13;
death. The delay in the response time of an ambulance will occur due to multiple reasons &#13;
including the telephone operator failing to answer the call right away, the caller having to &#13;
respond to an extensive list of questions and redialling the helpline due to failures in &#13;
telecommunication infrastructure. This represents an immense need for automated &#13;
ambulance dispatches as a solution to this existing problem.&#13;
This main aim of this project is to assess the problem of delay in the services of ambulance &#13;
dispatch systems and develop a solution for the general public to facilitate hassle free &#13;
reservation of ambulances and for health care organizations, to make their daily ambulance &#13;
dispatch processes hassle free in order to deliver an efficient service. This is proposed in &#13;
terms of both an automated android application and a web application allowing both &#13;
general users and hospital staff to using geographical location tracking to dispatch and &#13;
transport a patient to the nearest hospital. The android and web application will be sold as &#13;
a system to each hospital and will be customized according to their dispatching process &#13;
allowing it to be a source of income generation as well.

<title>SymptomDoc - Symptom Checker to help Bridge the Gap Between lack of Public Health Services and the Public</title>
<link>http://dlib.iit.ac.lk/xmlui/handle/123456789/1121</link>
<description>SymptomDoc - Symptom Checker to help Bridge the Gap Between lack of Public Health Services and the Public
Arshad, Mohamed Muad
"Public health services are considered the lifeblood of a country’s general wellbeing. Sri &#13;
Lanka as a developing country has been performing well on a regional stage, but it had &#13;
always been having challenges thrown at it. Sri Lanka has had a rich history of serving the &#13;
public with proper care, but as the times passed, the healthcare services in the country hit &#13;
a deteriorating note. A count of issues such as, lack of funding for public health services, &#13;
lack of resources and inefficiency in making timely decisions were the key reasons for the &#13;
major drawbacks.&#13;
The project focuses on how people who are dependent on the public healthcare services &#13;
sector of the country could benefit themselves saving time and having a better &#13;
understanding on conditions patients could probably be diagnosed with. This way the &#13;
application helps the patient gain more knowledge on possible conditions and guide &#13;
themselves to reach the appropriate medical consultations as well. The symptom checker, &#13;
the key functionality of the application was focused to be developed in a way it suits the &#13;
local population than the existing solutions available in foreign countries. The key findings &#13;
for implementing the prototype is, the range of suitable diseases to be utilised for &#13;
predictions, the medicinal aspect that was required to be covered and how feasible it is to &#13;
implement an application to solve the above problem. After validation of the idea &#13;
considering different aspects it indicated it is a timely solution to work on, hence, designing &#13;
the solution as a mobile application to maximise on the usability and functionality of &#13;
‘Symptomdoc’.&#13;
The solution was evaluated by domain experts and few non-experts to identify the validity &#13;
and practicality of the effort in order to bring the most to the users of the application to &#13;
help stand as a bridge connecting the gaps in public healthcare services
